Hello Everyone,
On behalf of the swim team staff and all of our Stingray families, I’d like to extend a warm invitation to come join us for a very rewarding experience. For the past two years I have assumed the duties of the Mountain Springs Swim Team Parent Representative. After a great season last year I look forward to continue moving forward with our program!
I’ve put together this quick little fact sheet about our swim team. We hope you’ll consider having your kids join us in this GREAT summer activity. First of all - be sure to check our website at: www.mountainspringspool.org Not everything has been updated for our upcoming season - but at least you can see who we are, and take a look at some of the great pictures of the fun.
The 2010 swim team season will run from May 22 - July 11, 2008. Our end-of-the-year banquet will be on July 12, 2008.
Our kickoff party is scheduled for May 22nd at the pool from 10-12. Molly Weakley and Kris Valentine have been hard at work to make this a great event! Please make plans to attend.
Since school is running so late this year - we are planning on starting practices on May 25 after school. More information will be coming soon.
Our swim meet schedule is tentatively as follows:
June 2 - Sherwood (away)
June 9 - Hampton Cove (home)
June 16 - Lily Flagg (home)
June 23 - Whitesburg (away)
June 30 - Byrd Springs (away)
July 10-11 - City Meet
All swimmers are required to be at least 2 dual meets in order to qualify to swim in the City Meet. City Meet is a huge deal - we want all of our swimmers there!!!! Our final standing in the meet will determine at what level we swim the next summer.
Fees for this year will be $60.00 for the first swimmer in the family and $40.00 for each child thereafter. This is the best deal in town!!!
The governing body of our swim league is the Rocket City Swim League (RCSL). There website is: www.swimrcsl.org. Feel free to look over the site and see all the teams that swim in our league as well as record holders and past swim meet results. Our league is split into 3 levels - A, B and C league. According to our finish in last year’s City Meet - we finished in the “B” league.
To join swim team you must be between 5-17 years old and water safe (able to dog paddle to the side of the pool or to the rope from a one foot distance).
Our Swim Team Program consists of a one hour daily practice Monday through Friday mornings, stroke practice one night a week and 5 swim meets Our swimmers are asked to be at all practices possible.
Practices times are as follows: (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
Monday – Friday (by age group)
• 6 and unders: 8:00a – 9:00a
• 8 and unders and 9-10s: 9:00a – 10:00a
• 11 and up: 10:00a – 11:00a
Tuesday Evenings (all age groups)
• Stroke Practice – 7:00p – 8:00p
Swim meets are held on Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM. There will be time
trials at the beginning of the season and prior to City Swim Meet. The
season ends with the City Swim Meet.
Many of our swimmers also attend Early Bird Swimming. A program offered
by the Huntsville Swim Association (HSA) at the Braham Spring Park Natatorium.

Swimsuits can be purchased at First Place Athletics on Regal Drive. Just tell them you are with Mountain Springs Pool and they will assist you from there. This is the year for us to pick a new suit!!
Last but certainly not least - as a parent of a swimmer you will be asked to help with many volunteer hours. Without volunteers we can’t make a successful season. So please be thinking about what you would like to do to help.
